Greetings storytellers! We have excellent news for you. The latest update of the StoryMaps app is now available, and it comes with some exciting new features and enhancements that will help you find new stories to read, create engaging short-form stories with frames, and organize your content. Here are the highlights of this update:
- We added a new My Feed tab that shows stories, collections, and frames from storytellers around the world.
- On the Android app, we have made it faster and easier to create short-form stories with frames. On the iOS app, you can now view frames created on the Android app.
- Now you can see the number of likes a story has and who has liked the story.
- We redesigned the My Content tab to help you manage your content and bookmarks.

My Feed: A new way to discover content
We are excited to introduce the My Feed tab, a new way to stay up-to-date and discover stories, collections, and frames. When you open and sign into the StoryMaps app, you’ll land on the My Feed tab where you’ll find a Trending feed and a For You feed. The Trending feed shows popular stories and collections from StoryMaps authors around the world.
The For You feed is personalized to show you content based on what you’ve already viewed and liked. To explore this content, you can simply scroll through the feeds or browse by the topics that interest you. As you read and like these stories, we actively refine and improve the content that will be shown in the For You feed to better suit your preferences. The more you read, the better your experience will be.
Faster and easier storytelling with frames
You can now tell your stories faster and easier with frames! Frames are a new storytelling format that combine a sprinkle of words and photos in engaging short-form stories. You can use frames to share an exciting moment you want to relive, a snippet of a longer story, or just some enjoyable highlights and stunning photos of your recent road trip. Whether you’re an enthusiastic traveler, a curious explorer, or simply someone who enjoys sharing your experiences with others, frames is an ideal choice for keeping your audience engaged and informed.
Creating a frame is easy. All you need is a bit of inspiration and a few taps on your phone. To create a frame, tap the “+” button at the bottom of the screen, and select a ready-to-use template. For example, Timeline is great for chronological storytelling, and Journey is best suited for stories that revolve around a set of places or locations. In the frame builder, you can edit photo captions, design the look and feel of the slides, and then publish and share the frame with friends and followers on social media.
Please note that frames creation is currently only available on the Android app.
Liking the good stories
If you find yourself enjoying a story, go ahead and give it a little love by tapping the like button. This feature is a great way to interact with the content you like, show your appreciation to the author, and spread some positivity. Additionally, you can see who else has liked a story by checking out the number of likes.
Manage your content and bookmarks
This latest update also introduces a new interface that makes it easier to manage your content and bookmarks. With the new design, everything is now more organized and streamlined. You can now filter your content by type (story, collection, or frame), open a dedicated page for your bookmarked content, and customize your profile information and app settings.
